Opens as the Olympic Saddledome
The Olympic Saddledome opened on October 15, 1983, as the Flames' new home in place of the Stampede Corral. The history says the final cost was C$97.7 million after a $16 million overrun. It was built for the club and for the 1988 Winter Olympics.
