Hoosier Dome opens for the Colts
The dome opened on August 5, 1984, after construction that began in May 1982, and cost $77.5 million. It was the Hoosier Dome, and the Colts played there from 1984 to 2007. An exhibition that year matched Larry Bird's NBA All-Stars with the United States Olympic team coached by Bob Knight.
