Billy Graham dedicates the Hive
Construction began in 1986, and the coliseum opened on August 11, 1988, with a dedication by Billy Graham. The Hornets played there from 1988 to 2002, and the Charlotte 49ers from 1988 to 1993. This building replaced the earlier arena that had used the same name.
