Opens four days after Sportsman's Park
The stadium opened on May 12, 1966, as Civic Center Busch Memorial Stadium, four days after the last game at Sportsman's Park. It cost $24 million and was home to the baseball Cardinals for its whole life, and to the football Cardinals from 1966 through 1987. Weeks later it hosted the All-Star Game and a Beatles concert.
