Kings open a larger arena
This ARCO Arena opened on November 8, 1988, and was the Sacramento Kings' home through 2016. The earlier ARCO Arena, used from 1985 to 1988, was a different building with 10,333 seats and is now an office property. The new arena also housed the Sacramento Monarchs until that club folded in 2009.
