Opens for the Mavericks and Stars
The arena opened on July 17, 2001, at a cost of $420 million, as the home of the Mavericks and the Stars. The history section calls an Eagles concert the first event and the next night the last show of Michael Flatley's Feet of Flames tour, without calendar dates for those two. The first sporting event it dates is August 19, 2001, when the Dallas Sidekicks beat the San Diego Sockers 6–5 in overtime.
